Unit 15 Creating an audio visual product: November 2017

The Genre of the music video are classed as Indie Pop and the band are called Ashfield and the music video is for the song Eclipse. The theory of David Boardwell (1995) will apply to this video because although their music is put into the category of pop there will be conventions of an Indie rock music video.

Characters - There will be two main characters within the narrative which will be the couple . The actors we will be using for these two characters will be Rosa and Eddie. And this is because for the girl we will need to use someone that is very unique looking and Rosa would be very good for this role.

Narrative - the narratives going to be based around the relationship of a guy and a girl. And the guy is becoming obsessed and in love with the girl which leads to her becoming his thought often. The video will start off with the guy sat in his bedroom and a birds eye view shot will be used in the start of the video after the song name and the name of the band have been on screen , the camera will then zoom into the guys eye / head so that the camera is portraying that the point of view is from the guys mind and what he is thinking. After it has zoomed into his head it shows his thoughts of the girl and then a love story is shown . He then wakes up from his dream / day dreaming.

The locations we want to use for the video will be places that have a cool and edgy appearance and this is because this is a convention of an indie music video . So therefore we will ask for permission off Picture House Social , this is a cool bar in Sheffield that would fit into the genre of the video as we will be able to film the couple playing table tennis and there are also arcade machines which we would be able to film the couple playing on as they have a cool look to them. Milhouses could also be a location where the couple are shown to be on the paddle boats and holding hands which would be a scene that would connote them being in love. We will be using my bedroom as a location as well to pretend it is one of the actors bedroom. The Christmas markets would be somewhere we could film and the sleigh bar in Sheffield to show the age of the couple as they are shown to be over 18.

The costumes will not be anything stereotypical of the girls . For example the main girl in the video will have short brown hair and will be wearing unique clothing and the guy in the video will be wearing dark clothing and this connote his edgy and dark personalitiy. Whereas the people in the background will be dressed normal and will not stand out to the crowd.

Props will be used within the video to add to the storyline. We will be using cigarettes and this will connote the 'indie' video because this is a prop that is often used within this genre of music video. Also another stereotypical prop used in a Skateboard and we will be using this because it will make the video have a cool look to it.

To film this video we will need to a camera , a tripod to make sure the camera is balanced .

The video will be distributed via youtube. And we will be giving the video to the band and then they will be able to decide where ( if any where ) they want it.

A variety of different shots will be used as the camera work will work well with the narrative to tell the story . For example a close up shot of the couple's facial expressions will be used so that the audience are able to tell the mood and atmosphere of the scene that is currently being shown. Wide shots will also be used of the location of the will be used so that the audience are able to see

For this unit 15 creating an audio visual product I will be working with Jess and Monique
This lesson we have thought of 3 possible bands we could use which are Oddity road who are a four piece indie band. The song we would be interested in using is called 'You' however they already have kind of a music video but we could make another as this is one of their biggest songs. We would be interested in using this band as they are local and easy to contact as my sister is friends with them however this isn't our first option of the chosen band.
The second band we are interested in using are called King no one they are an indie pop band made of 4 boys. This would be our first preference of the band as we like their music the best, however it isn't as easy to use them as they live in Leeds and are more famous than Oddity Road. The song we would be interested in using would be called 'Alcatraz' however it is very popular with 61k views but we don't like this video as much as their others and would rather do a new one for them.

The third band we are interested in using is called The Ashfields, they are a 4 four piece Indie band from Nottingham. The song we would be interested in using for our music video is called 'Here Right Now' as they dont have a video for that yet, although they dont live in Sheffield we wouldnt mind using this band as the song lyrics are quite simple to use for a music video.
