LO2: Client brief and audience requirements

For this unit we will need to produce a music video and the purpose of the video is to promote the bands next single - Eclipse. If the band want to use the video as the official video they will be putting it out onto their social media accounts. And the target audience for the video will be Females and Males (60% female and 40% males) and this is because the band may be seen as ideal partners for the female audience and a lot of bands have 'fangirls' which mean that the female audience will stereotypically be more interested in watching the video. Their social grading would be C2DE because there are activities such as smoking which would be classed as not appropriate for the category of ABC1 to do this because people do not stereotypically smoke if they have a high disposable income as they are seen to be more interested in spending their money on something that would be needed for a high lifestyle. The age of the target audience would be aged 14-20 and this is because at this age people tend to have jobs however are still living at home so therefore they have a small amount of disposable income and they would maybe be interested in spending their money on events such as gigs . Whereas adults are more likely to spend their money on holidays etc.

Another reason why the target audience would be young is because they will look at the band as ideal selfs or ideal partners because the band are young . The band are only 19-20 so therefore people older than them are less likely to view them as being idols and be interested in watching their music video and going to their gigs.

The content for the music video will be stereotypical conventions of an Indie music video because this is the genre of the song. The narrative of our music video is
going to be based around the relationship of a guy and a girl. The guy is becoming obsessed and in love with the girl which leads to her becoming his thought often. One of the main scenes which include the band is live footage at one of their gigs we attended, so we are still promoting the band although they aren't in the video much. The scenes will cross cut to different parts of the story throughout the video.

To attract the audience we need to use young actors who would attract the audience and be seen as an ideal self or ideal partner. Our actors used in the promo are 18/19 year old male and females to attract either target audiences. The storyline is also relatable to the target audience as it shows the life of an Indie rock persona which follows the storyline of the Ashfield's life, we will also use special effects like bright lights to copy the style of the 1975 music videos as they are very popular within the Indie music genre so we know the it will be successful. We also need to have typical hobbies and interests of the target audience and band to attract the audience to the music video Eclipse, there will be scenes with the protagonist skateboarding in the video which will attract the target audience due to stereotypes of them.

We would market this promo on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Youtube to reach the target audience of 14-20 male and females as these are typical sites of what they would use on a daily basis. Using Youtube to advertise will be useful as you can share on to different platforms so the audience can take part in participatory culture this would also allow more advertising for the band as it will be up on their Youtube account as the audience can view their other videos
